There is a lot to know about Audrey and Skip Poffenberger. The longtime members of Trinity often share a pew with their sons Mark and Craig, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandchildren Zach, Zane and Kaitlyn, and are supporters of many church and sport activities.

A big surprise about Skip is that he continues to play softball on a traveling team at an age (70+) that many are thinking soft couch! He is on a traveling team sponsored by Hamel Builders out of Glen Burnie, Maryland known as Hamel/Cavaliers. The Poffenbergers have traveled all over the United States as well as Canada to places including California, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia.

In October, softball took them to Phoenix, Arizona for the World Championship games. Skip’s team won the Eastern Division in Raleigh, NC, which qualified them to play for the World Championship and after playing the games, they also won the World Championship. Most of the wives travel with their husbands, maybe not all of the time, but there are always at least six wives present, a lot of times as many as twelve.

It has been quite a wonderful experience traveling with a local couple from Hagerstown. The Poffenbergers have experienced the feeling of having a second family which is the ball players – their wives – and many other team members.

God has blessed Audrey and Skip with good health to be able to travel and to enjoy the wonderful world which He has created. If the Poffenbergers are occasionally absent on Sunday morning, now you know where they’ve been! Say hello to them next time you see them!
