BIG NEWS! Trinity Lutheran is very pleased to welcome Rev. Robert Lewis as our new pastor. Pastor Robert was voted in by the congregation as our new Pastor on Sunday November 19th following a year and a half search process. He comes to us from Messiah Lutheran in Alexandria, Virginia where he was Senior Pastor and, before that, from Emmanuel Lutheran in Bethesda as Director of Youth and Family Ministries. He earned his Masters in Sacred Theology from Boston University and is working toward a Doctor of Theology.
We were so happy to meet his family who came to a Meet and Greet held in advance of the vote, including wife Jennifer who is a nurse and his children Evelyn and Alex who are both in their 20s. In his spare time, Pastor Robert is an avid comic book collector and teaches online courses at the University of Maryland University College. He loves to preach and feels his goal is to take words written 2,000 years ago and help people apply it to their own lives today and to discover how they are called to do God’s work.
Our beloved Rev. Joseph Donovan had been at Trinity nearly 40 years and retired in July of 2016. Since that time, Trinity has been abundantly blessed to have Rev. Ron Schlak act as interim pastor and we gratefully thank him for the time he has spent with us. We truly could not have been more fortunate to have his leadership and service during this time and he will be missed.
Trinity also sincerely appreciates the time spent by members of the Profile and Call committees and church council who helped guide the church through the search process.
Pastor Robert started in his new position the first Sunday in January. Please help us welcome him, pray for him and lend him your support for a successful transition.
