The Faith Activity Nutrition (FAN) Committee at Trinity hosted a luncheon on January 15th to spotlight healthy foods and lifestyles.  Sue Layos, Kim Nally, Tammy Panther and Melissa Schwalbe comprise the committee and asked the congregation to consider healthy choices in the new year.  They also invited us to participate in the Walk to Jerusalem effort, which other churches around the country are doing. Walk to Jerusalem is an activity goal to have our congregation walk a combined 5,800 miles – the distance between Boonsboro and Jerusalem – by Easter (April).  If you will participate, please notify Susan Layos and send her updates on how many miles you walk each week – even if it’s just 1!.  If anyone is interested in walking as a group, let her know that too.

About 2,000 steps = 1 mile

Use your Smart Phone – if you have a smart phone, many of them come with health programs that can track your steps each day. Use a FitBit or AppleWatch.  Devices you wear on your wrist easily track your steps each day and show you progress over time. Know your distances – Use Google Maps to do a search between two places to determine the distance and then track how many times you walk that distance. For example, it is approximately 1 mile between Trinity Lutheran and Boonsboro High School or if you like to walk around the track on the school complex, 4 laps around the track equals 1 mile. Use the form below to let Susan know you’d like to participate.
